Kayenta I and II, located in Northern Arizona, represent a sustained collaboration between DEPCOM Power and the customer to ensure long-term performance and reliability of over 55 MWac of solar assets. Kayenta I underwent a comprehensive restoration and repowering effort following the failure of OEM-supported central inverters. DEPCOM designed a custom solution using string inverters while reusing the existing inverter transformers—reducing overall replacement costs by 30% and accelerating the project timeline.
The string inverter retrofit increased operational resilience, reduced long-term maintenance costs, and improved energy conversion efficiency. With a distributed system of 320 inverters, the plant now benefits from faster repair cycles, minimized output loss per inverter failure, and more efficient MPPT utilization. DEPCOM’s approach eliminated the need for filter maintenance and improved system durability in the region’s fine dust conditions.
Kayenta II continues to benefit from DEPCOM’s comprehensive O&M support. Across both sites, DEPCOM manages performance monitoring, preventative maintenance, and corrective actions as part of a five-year service agreement. The ongoing partnership includes exploration of future solar, BESS, and performance upgrade initiatives to further strengthen the customer’s energy infrastructure.
