DEPCOM Power is delivering strategic repowering services for two legacy PV sites located adjacent to Tucson Electric Power’s Springerville Generating Station in Arizona, supporting a long-standing utility partner in advancing the reliability and long-term performance of its solar fleet. The scope includes full inverter system replacement across both sites, leveraging a tailored approach to meet the unique needs of each system’s design and aging components. This project marks the first repowering engagement with this customer.
One portion of the project involves a legacy site with a 600 Vdc, positively grounded system—an increasingly rare configuration in modern utility-scale applications. DEPCOM is replacing eight (8) aged central inverters with thirty-six (36) SMA PEAK string inverters, collaborating closely with SMA to ensure system compatibility and performance.
At another site within the complex, DEPCOM is addressing a legacy low-concentration PV system with an aging and obsolete central inverter architecture. Here, four (4) central inverters and associated medium-voltage transformers are being replaced with an integrated skid solution from APEX Power Conversion. DEPCOM is working alongside APEX to ensure the proposed technology meets both technical and commercial expectations, ultimately delivering a high-performance system aligned with the customer’s operational goals.
